About Me
Overview
My name is Gable Gering and I am the class of 2024. My goal is to be recruited for a D1 equestrian team in college. I consider myself a scholar athlete who prides herself on excellence in both arenas. I attend The Brentwood School in Los Angeles. My GPA is 3.97 unweighted / 4.29 weighted. I am interested in the Pre-Med track in college, with the long-term goal of becoming a heart surgeon. I live in Pacific Palisades, CA and train at Granite Bay Stables with Katie Hauss & Lindsay Stefanko. Previously, I rode with Archibald Cox III at Brookway Stables. I have been riding since I was four years old and since Day One, I have loved horses and carried them with me deep in my heart…from the paddock to the show ring, there is no better friend or teammate.
Equestrian Achievements
I finished 4th in the 2021 Hamel Medal at the National Horse Show (out of 180 competitors), and 2nd on the flat in the highly competitive Age Eq Division. I finished 5th in the 2021 Jumping Seat- East Gymnastics Phase and 11th in the Jumping Phase (out of 155 competitors). I won the 2021 USEF Dover Regional Medal Final, had a Top 12 finish at The Gladstone Equitation Championships in ’22, a Top 12 finish at Maclay Regionals in ’21, a Top 15 finish at the Ronnie Mutch Equitation Championship in ’21, finished 6th at the Style of Riding Final in ’21, and 7th at the NCEA Junior Hunt Seat Final in ’21, was the Winner of the 2019 Onondarka Medal and was Reserve Champion at the CPHA Foundation 14U Final also in ’19. I have had multiple wins in the USET Talent Search, Maclay, USEF Dover Medal, WIHS (both phases) and the WCE– qualifying for all of the associated finals as well as The Gladstone Medal. I have had multiple Top 5 finishes at Junior Hunter Finals ’19 and ’21, and in several National Hunter Derbies throughout the past two years.
Extra Curricular Activities
I recently returned from a two week Healthcare and Medical Assistance program in Costa Rica (July ’22). And in August ’22, I participated in a highly-selective, one-week internship program at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. I took a “Pathways to Medicine OB/ GYN Maternal-Fetal Medicine & Neonatology” class earlier this year. Additionally in Summer ’21, I completed an “Introduction to Diagnostic Ultrasound” class. During quarantine/ Covid, I worked with Teen Council in the Pacific Palisades to discuss and address discrepancies in education and resources during the pandemic. In 2018, I won the California State Cup with LA Breakers Soccer Club. I am an active member of the Girls in Code, Students Demand Action and Girls Power clubs at my school. I am also a long-time employee at Corks on the Vine and Bistro 10 in Beaufort, SC (where my grandparents live) where I have worked as a both a cashier and dishwasher.
